Product Description
The Joystick Manoeuvering System (JMS) interfaced with the SmartCommand control system offers a more user friendly remote control system for propulsion than what is provided by the SmartCommand system alone. Designed for use at slow speed in tight quarters, the JMS simplifies challenging maneuvers such as docking, mooring, anchoring, and traveling in heavy traffic. The JMS uses operator input, compass feedback and advanced control theory algorithms to determine engine, transmission, and
thruster commands. Maneuvers such as moving sideways to the dock and 360-degree on-the-spot rotations, difficult with standard controls, become easy operations. Driving a pleasure boat may be considered safer with than without the Joystick Maneuvering System. However, DNV's Rules have no specific requirements for such a joystick system, only for the SmartCommand remote control system.
