Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), a South Korean shipbuilding behemoth, has received a further order for the construction of a 174,000 cubic metre (cbm) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

On April 26, 2022, KSOE announced that it has signed a deal for the LNG vessel with an undisclosed European shipowner worth KRW 278.2 billion (about $221.2 million).

As previously stated, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, a division of the Korea Shipbuilding Corporation, would construct the ship (HSHI).

The newbuild is projected to be completed by the end of October 2025.

KSOE also obtained an order for the construction of an LNG carrier of the same size just a few days ago. It is also expected that the construction will be completed by December 2025, with HSHI as the general contractor.

There are currently 87 vessels on order with the shipbuilder, which accounts for 57.8 percent of its annual order objective.
