HII (NYSE:HII) said today that Stephen Fitts has been elevated to vice president of contracts and pricing at its Ingalls Shipbuilding division. Fitts previously held the position of director of contracts and pricing. Fitts takes over for Eric Crooker, who moved to a new position as vice president of infrastructure and sustainability earlier this year.

Fitts will report to Keith Munn, Ingalls' vice president of business management and chief financial officer, and will be in charge of contracts, estimating and pricing, export/import licenses, and compliance for the shipyard. Fitts will be responsible for the overall operations of the shipyard.

“Stephen’s extensive background in legal and contract administration forms a solid foundation for his transition into this important leadership role,” Munn said. “He has been committed to building trusting relationships while ensuring an equitable approach to solving complex agreements for all parties. We look forward to him leading, mentoring and developing the organization in his new position.”

The Ingalls Shipbuilding Company hired Fitts as a senior counsel in 2013. He began his legal career at HII in 2013. Fitts has served as director of contract administration at Ingalls Shipbuilding since 2018, where he has assisted in the expansion of the company's historic backlog of contracts, which has included the negotiation of several amphibious and U.S. Coast Guard ships, as well as numerous guided missile destroyer awards.

Fitts graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in political science and from the University of Alabama with a juris doctorate. Prior to joining HII, Fitts worked as an equity partner at a legal firm where he focused on commercial litigation, employment law, outside general counsel, intellectual property litigation, and other areas of law.
