Provides fire integrity insulation for I-sections structural steel (ISS) with a 32Hp/A up to 341Hp/A and Hollow sections structural steel (HSS) with 69Hp/A up to 169Hp/A based upon a steel critical core temperature of 400oC. Chartek 8E can be applied using methods in the manufacturers application manual from a minimum thickness of 2.8mm and up to a thickness of 23.6mm for ISS and 4.28mm and up to a thickness of 48.7mm for HSS. | | On a case by case basis, other reference steel critical core temperatures can be considered with the submission of an engineering analysis including at least A). the original fire and blast risk assessment done for the unit and B). a structural analysis. Additional information may be required. | | An assessment of the performance has been made from tests conducted as equivalent with ISO 834 hydrocarbon time temperature curve as well as jet fire tests in accordance with ISO 22899 up to a fire duration period of 2 hours. | | The following extra thickness (Jet fire erosion factor) is to be applied for Jet fire scenarios: | Fire durations up to: | 30 minutes 1.3mm; 60 minutes 3.8mm; 90 minutes 4.1mm; 120 minutes 4.4mm, for I-Sections Structural Steel. | 30 minutes 1.5mm; 60 minutes 1.5mm; 90 minutes 1.5mm; 120 minutes 4.4mm, for Hollow Sections Structural Steel. | | The time of the jet fire endurance cannot be longer than the time of protection for a hydrocarbon fire.
