PRIME Blue type propeller end seal units series.

Product Description

A PRIME Blue seal unit installation is made up of the following main components:, , 1. A metal casing., , 2. One or two metal flange pipes, depending on the seal unit size, for letting in water supply to the bearings., , 3. A metal mating ring that provides the sealing surface against which the operational seal ring as per item 4 makes face contact. The mating ring is of a split design for easier maintenance of the seal unit. It can be removed from the shaft when a seal ring has to be replaced and it can be made reusable by machining its worn end face., , 4. Operational and spare nitrile rubber seal rings, one of each. These are pressed against the shaft by stainless steel garter springs. As the operational seal ring rotates with the shaft its face is in contact with the mating ring as per item 3. Therefore, it does not wear the shaft, like a conventional gland packing would., , 5. An inflatable seal unit, which when inflated with compressed air contacts the shaft and therefore prevents any seawater from entering the ship once the mating ring is removed. This is used when a seal ring has to be replaced and should never be inflated while the shaft is rotating., , 6. A grounding unit.
