Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday held talks with British Minister of Defence Procurement Jeremy Quin, focusing on bilateral cooperation in areas such as aviation and shipbuilding.

“Had a wonderful meeting with the UK Minister of Defence Procurement, Mr Jeremy Quin. We discussed the opportunities available in areas pertaining to aviation, shipbuilding and other defence industrial programmes for both the countries,” Rajnath tweeted.

It was just a few days ago that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson reached an agreement on a new and extended India-United Kingdom defence relationship.

The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced during his visit to India last week that the country would be granted an Open General Export Licence (OGEL) for defence procurement in order to "reduce bureaucracy and slash delivery times." Johnson also stated that London would assist New Delhi in the co-development of military hardware, including the indigenous production of fighter jets.
